British Uniforms

British units are famously remembered for their scarlet colored tunics (the "red coats") and their Revolutionary Era tricorne hats. By the time of the Napoleonic Wars however, the tricornes had given way to cylindrical shakos, although they did still wear the regulation red jacket. Many specialized units such as the highlanders and rifles had features dramatically different from the normal infantry wear, giving the British army a rich and varied appearance. This, combined with the very successful service record of the army during the later half of the wars makes it one of the more popular forces for Napoleonic wargamers to build.
